Egypt and the Nile.
Since I got my books on May 5th I started to read one of the history about Egypt and the Nile. So the story is like this in the first paragraph it says that Cairo the capital of Egypt today has huge skyscrapers and its street are jammed with traffic. Now there are only 12 kilometers (miles) of area in which all the pyramids are left of ancient kings that were 4500 years ago. Then it tells that that the Nile river is about 1000 kilometers long and a few kilometers wide. And till that time China and Greece were much advanced civilizations. And the question there is How do we know about Egypt’s past. And the answer was when all the archeologists went to collect fossil stones and material from Egypt they found a lot of cave paintings writings and other stuff from which they know a lot about Egypt’s past. And then a paragraph on the government. That there should be a strong ruler so no one could interfere in the water supply. And the king had to have many advisers, officials, priests, and scribes to help him, and there were soldiers to make people obey people the law.And then a paragraph on writing. Well the writing for the Egyptian government and the Egyptian writing is called hieroglyphs and consists a series of small picture writing. These were carved on stone or wood, or written on leather.
For everyday writing there were sheets of “paper” made of papyrus reed which grew on the banks of Nile and from this we get our modern ‘paper’. The scribes wrote with reed pens. And now about food. In that paragraph it is written that each year the river floods and Egyptians used a simple machine called shaduf to irrigate their crops. The was used to travel through the whole length of the kingdom. And now the religion of the Egyptians. The Egyptians worshiped many gods, the chief of which was Ra , the Sun. Other gods had the bodies of birds and animals. The Egyptian people believed that they needed there stuff and there body in a correct way in the after life. Here the soul of the person was judged by weighed against a feather , and if the person had been good he or she would go to a place like Earth, only better. And now about the ordinary people. The ordinary people seem to have fairly happy :they had food and free time for games, small mud or reed huts,, and there was little trouble. (everybody have problems in his life). And today’s brother quote is “Brother remembers one’s birthday- usually about three weeks late”. On May 7th I joined the doctor dictionary word of the day and today’s word is Contemporaneous and it means occurring at the same time.
